CDL Drivers Subject to the ELD Rule
The FMCSA ELD mandate applies to approximately 3 million commercial truck and bus drivers operating in interstate commerce, excluding those who qualify for the short-haul, driveaway-towaway, or pre-2000 model-year vehicle exemptions. Enforcement is conducted at roadside inspections as part of the standard Driver/Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) process.
