About this position
Mile Truck is hiring a freight dispatcher to coordinate driver operations across our active freight lanes.
This role is the connection between our drivers, shippers, and brokers. You will manage load assignments, monitor in-transit shipments, resolve exceptions, and keep freight moving on time. Strong communication is non-negotiable — our drivers and customers depend on proactive updates, not reactive responses.
Responsibilities
What you'll do
- Assign loads to drivers based on availability, hours of service, and lane fit
- Communicate load details, pickup instructions, and delivery requirements to drivers
- Monitor active loads and proactively manage exceptions, delays, and changes
- Communicate shipment updates to brokers and shippers in real time
- Coordinate with drivers on hours of service, appointments, and route planning
- Maintain accurate load status records in the TMS
- Escalate issues to management when additional resources are needed
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 6+ months of freight dispatching or carrier operations experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple active loads simultaneously under pressure
- Familiarity with ELD systems, DOT regulations, and hours-of-service rules
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving instincts
- Comfortable working in a high-communication, fast-paced environment
- Experience with TMS software preferred
